Shoe Review: Hunter Original Rain Boots

After a full month of rain, I finally decided that I needed a pair of rain boots. I purchased a pair of Hunter Original rain boots when they were on sale. Honestly, I feel like every female in the city owns a pair. My coworker even has a reptile patterned pair! I was drawn to the Hunter Original rain boots because of its smooth yet matte finish and because of the variety of colors and patterns available. Funny thing is though, I ended up with picking up the cafe latte/tan colored boots. lol

The Basics
Color: Cafe Latte      Heel Height: 1 in   Shaft Height: 15 in   Circumference: 15 in

Currently on sale at
Neiman Marcus.

The Good
- I bought them on sale!
Occasionally, I will check out Neiman Marcus's sale section to see if anything good is available in a size 5. Usually, its a quick look since there are very few size 5 shoes on sale.

- I love the color and smooth matted finish.
I ended up buying the Latte colored pair because I knew it would go with everything. If I wanted to look a little more classy (classy enough while wearing rain boots), I could sort of pull it off with the cafe latte colored boots.

- They fit my muscular calves with room for skinny jeans.
My calves have been a big issue for my tiny feet. With a size 13.5 inch calf, I find it difficult to purchase any pair of size 5 boot. Usually, I need something with elastic/stretch. I can never purchase a pair of children's boots because the shaft of those boots are just too small.

The Bad
- The boots are a size too large for me.
The bottom of the boot actually states that the boot is a Women's size 5/6 and a Men's size 4. Personally, I think unisex shoes tend to be larger for us females. The boots also fit my Superfeet insoles that I use for my size 6 Adidas running shoes. So clearly, these boots are a size 6. However, the only difference between these boots and my running shoes is that these boots have less ankle support, so I have a hard time walking around in these boots. (Notice how easy they fold)
- The shaft is too high for my short legs.
Unfortunately, I was blessed with a long torso, but cursed with short legs. These boots go all the way up to my knees and bother my knees when I walk.

Verdict
I'm sending these boots back to Neiman Marcus. And bidding Hunter Originals farewell...at least until a Hunter starts selling a pair of size 4/5 rain boots that are an inch or two shorter.

I am in the same boat, long torso, teeny, tiny legs. I'm 5'2" with a 27" inseam. Sigh. I still have yet to come to terms with it and obsess about looking completely weird.

Too bad about the Hunters, I've toyed with the idea of buying them but then I just know the shaft wouldn't get around my muscular calves either. Sad.

I tell my boyfriend I have penguin proportions. All torso, no leg.

I've been meaning to ask you about your Coach Madison bag. I have it in the saddle color. It's probably the most versatile bag I've ever owned and I adore it, however, after less than a month of using the leather on the bag and sides is already rubbing off. I know it's due to rubbing against my clothing etc and it's my every day bag. I was just wondering if this has happened to yours as well? I've had it now for over six months and have just come to terms with it, but it's still a bit frustrating.

And, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! I really enjoy your blog, keep up the awesome work!

Hey Amelia! Just got back from my vacation. lol I never thought of it as penguin proportions. I like the term!

You know, I never noticed the discoloration until now. It's only discolored near the metal logo and that part doesn't rub against my clothes. I wonder if the cause is something else...water damage, the purse rubbing against itself?
